QUIK-CHANGE HANDLE SYSTEM
The Quik-Change Handle System began development almost 5 years ago. After much research, testing and surveying, the system is ready for it’s debut at the Tour Kickoff in las Vegas March 2006.
This system will allow a player to ‘switch out’ a standard handle for an upgraded Pro-Line handle.
Here’s how it works: A steel adapter is fitted to a rod on the handle side. Any Tornado hollow rod from the past 20 years. It is secured through the hole near the end of the rod with a ½” roll pin. The exposed portion of the adapter is octagonal in shape. The new handle slides onto the rod and locks onto the adapter. The inside of the new handle has an octagonal key pattern which keeps the handle from turning. Next an allen screw is inserted into the back end of the handle. A small allen wrench can hold the screw steady as you roll the handle to tighten, much the same as players currently do to put on a wrap. Average change out time is about 15 seconds.
A standard handle is made of ABS plastic and is a replica of the Tornado wood handle of 2001. The handle size is between the latest wood handle version of ’05 and the fatter version the year before. It has a textured finish similar to a new wood handle.
Benefits of the Standard Quik-Change Handle:
- The standard handles will be available in a variety of colors. Black, yellow, red, green, and blue. Perfect for customizing your table.
- If you choose not to upgrade, the standard handle feels virtually the same as a wood handle and will keep that feel much longer. Sweat, dirt, silicon, and anything else that affected a wood handle in just a few weeks is now a non-factor.
- The standard handle is washable! No need to worry about unsanitary conditions that exist with the wood handle(germs, blood, yuk!). Spray it down or take it off and soak it.
- If you like the current octagonal handle shape, stick with the standard handle and use your wrap or inner-tube. These can always remain on the handle just the way you like them, only the handle itself moves.
Benefits of the Pro-Line Handle:
- At last more choice! Foam, rubber, ergonomic, symmetrical, larger, smaller.
- Softer handles are easier on the hands, wrists, elbows, and other joints. They will absorb the shock. This will extend the career of many players!
- Versatility for all shapes and sizes. Whatever size your hand is, child or adult, there will be a size that is more comfortable for you.
- Personal choice. Like your billiard cue, tennis racket, ping-pong paddle, baseball bat, etc. Color and style. The list is endless.
- Mix and match. Your 5-rod handle may be different than the 2-rod. Your 3-rod handle may be more symmetrical for a roll-over. It’s all your choice!
There will be some official rule parameters set for the usage at a tournament. Among them would be that a custom handle could not be mechanical or distracting in nature and must conform within certain dimensions.
SRP for the Standard Quik-Change Handle kit will be $19.95. The kit includes 2 handles, 2 adapters, 2 roll pins, 2 screws, and 1 wrench.
SRP for Pro-Line Handles will range from $19.95 to $24.95 for a pair.
Wholesale rates for promoters and dealers will be announced.
The Standard Handle kits will be available in mid-January 2006. To get on the pre-order list, you can e-mail us at tslmail@earthlink.net.
